A Handy Sized Ketch
The Three Brothers was built in Rye in 1896 and was still sitting in the mud there in 1947. She would be a handy size to manage with her ketch rig.
Many of the Brixham and Lowestoft Trawlers were built in Rye. and their influence shows in the lines of the "Three Brothers"

A Fast and Seaworthy Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter

Built by Cooper of Pill in 1899,"Hilda" was one of the most beautiful of the Pilot cutters, and at 49ft she is a very manageable size. Cooper built seaworthy craft, and "Hilda" inparticular was renown for her ability to ride out the worst of the storms in the Bristol Channel, and out into the Atlantic.

"Hilda" is one of the best documented of these craft. It would be great to build a replica of her, as she would make a wonderful charter boat, or family blue water cruiser.

Pilot Punt (Hilda's No.2)

Dimensions:

LOA: 13ft 6 inches
Beam: 5ft
Draught: 2ft
Displacement: 200lbs

Pilot Punt

These pilot punts were used to carry the pilot across from the cutter to the incoming ship.
Easily rowed, they have a very workmanlike sheer, and as you can see from the lines,
they would have been quite stable in a seaway.
This hull shape would also sail very well with a centre board and standing lugsail.

Mischief Class Pilot Cutter
