Joinery

Craftsmanship, skill, quality and strength.

RB Boatbuilding Ltd. believes a traditional boat should be fitted out in a traditional manner, using the highest quality material, be it wood or fastenings.

Fitting out a vessel requires great skill and craftsmanship passed on and improved over generations. Each joint is used for a reason: the tenon or dovetail to hold the joint together mechanically; the half lap rather than the miter to prevent the ingress of water; the use of raised panels to allow for flex and the natural movement of wood in a marine environment.

Epoxy and ply are no substitute for quality wood and a close joint.
